Peanut

Life With Three Cats and One Tiny Condo

Yang13 September 2026·1 min read

People ask me how I survive a household with three cats in one 45 square metre condo on Sukhumvit. Honestly, I ask myself the same thing every morning. Peanut is the boss of the place, though. He is nearly four now, a mixed breed with an orange-and-white coat, and he has decided the kitchen counter is his office.

Yesterday I came home from work to find the bathroom door shut, the rice bowl tipped over and the curtain hanging off one rail. The two younger ones were chasing each other around the sofa while Peanut watched from the top of the fridge like nothing had happened.

I have learned a few things. Feed them in separate corners, buy two litter trays even if it feels silly, and never leave a plastic bag on the bed. The BTS noise outside keeps them awake sometimes, so I run a cheap fan to cover it.

Would I change anything? Maybe the curtains. Otherwise I wouldn't trade it for quiet.

How do you keep the litter boxes separate in a condo that small? I'd love to know how many you have and where you put them.

I'm going to try the separate-spots approach with our two cats this weekend. Hopefully it helps them stop fighting over the window sill.

A tip that worked for us in a small place is to give each cat their own vertical space, like a tall shelf or cat tree by the window, so nobody has to fight over the same spot. Peanut sounds like he'd love a perch with a view. Separate food bowls spaced around the room cut down on the drama too. Good luck with the three of them!

Going to try the separate feeding spots with my own two cats this week. If the wall shelves work for you, I'll probably add a couple too.

Three cats in 45 square metres is wild, and Peanut sounds like he runs the whole place. Charlie would definitely be fighting him for the window seat.
