Mimi and the Thunderstorm Blanket Trick
Mimi is a two and a half year old Scottish Fold who thinks every thunderclap is a personal attack. In our Thonglor condo the storms roll in around six, and she used to dive under the bed and stay there until morning. Last rainy season I tried a few things: a closed curtain, some soft music, and a towel that smells like me. The towel was the winner. She now wraps herself in it on the sofa and falls asleep before the lightning even starts.
New Year fireworks were a different story, but the towel still helped. She was calmer once she had it and a bowl of treats nearby. I'm just happy she stopped hiding under my bed.

A weighted blanket or a thick fleece throw is what helped our old cat most during thunder, so this sounds like a similar fix.
