Keeping Fanta Cool in a Bangkok Heatwave
Fanta is four months old, a Siberian Husky puppy who thinks the sun is a personal challenge. Bangkok this April has been brutal, and I learned quickly that the pavement gets hot enough to hurt her paws, even in the morning. Now I check the ground with the back of my hand before every walk. If it's too hot to hold for seven seconds, it's too hot for her.
We walk early or late, stick to grass and shade, and carry water in a bottle with a small bowl. Indoors, the air conditioning stays on a moderate setting, there's a cool mat by the balcony door and a frozen toy she loves to chew. If she is panting heavily or seems unwell, we stop and head home right away.
