Flea and Tick Season Tips From a Bangkok Cat Owner

Ice is our white Khao Manee, and he is the most dramatic cat in Sathorn when it comes to fleas. Flea and tick season here runs hotter and wetter than people expect, so we stay ahead of it.

We give him a vet-recommended spot-on treatment on the same date every month, and we set a phone reminder so we never miss it. After he comes in from the balcony, I check his neck, ears, and belly with a fine comb. I also wash his bedding weekly in hot water. If you see tiny black specks on a white towel, that is flea dirt, and it is time to call the vet.

One warning: never use dog flea products on cats. Ask your vet first, every time.
