Finding a Pet Sitter Before My Chiang Rai Trip
Last month I had a work trip to Chiang Rai for five days, and the big question was who would look after Kai Tun, my nine-year-old poodle. She is not a fan of strangers, and she has opinions about everything, including the colour of the leash. I started looking two weeks before I left. A friend from the Chatuchak dog park recommended a pet sitter who lives near Sanam Pao, and we met at a coffee shop on Phahonyothin first. Kai Tun sniffed him for a full minute, then went back to her ball, which I took as a yes.
My tips: meet the sitter at least once with your dog before you leave, write down the feeding schedule and grooming needs, and note your dog's favourite walking route. Poodles tangle easily, so I also showed him how I brush her coat.
She came home happy, a little spoiled, and wearing a small new bow that I definitely did not put there.

Finding someone a grumpy poodle trusts is genuinely hard, so I get why you spent so long looking. Strangers are a big ask for a dog who has opinions about everything. Hope the trip went smoothly and Kai Tun was not too judgmental when you got home.

Kai Tun sounds like a real character, and the way you wrote about her made me smile. I appreciate you being honest about how hard it is to leave a pet with someone new. Moji would probably have opinions about the leash too, so I feel for you both.
