Choosing Food and Supplies at a Chiang Mai Pet Fair
I went to a pet fair near San Sai last month with Jasper, my nine-year-old mixed-breed cat. He was not invited, but he came anyway in his carrier. Here is what I learned, for anyone planning the same trip.
Go early. The first hour is calm, the vendors have time to talk, and you can see everything before the free samples run out. Bring a list. I wandered for ages and bought a fancy scratching post that Jasper ignored the moment he got home.
Read the labels yourself. Several stalls had bags with big promises on the front. I turned most of them over, compared the protein and the ingredient list, and asked how long the stock had been on the shelf. The vendors who answered clearly were the ones I bought from.
Jasper is an older cat now, so I bought a small bag of formula for older cats and a few cans to try, not a huge bag he might refuse. Take a photo of anything you want to think about before you buy. Honest advice from me: the cheapest bag at the stall is rarely the bargain it looks like.
