Bobo Is Not Impressed by His New Allergy Diet

Bobo is a six-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed cat who has never met a snack he didn't want to steal. So when our vet in Bang Kapi said he had food allergies, I expected a long fight. I was right. For two weeks he sat beside the fridge and gave me the most offended look I have ever seen from an animal.

The new prescription diet is chicken-free and, according to him, smells like a cardboard box. We slowly mixed it into his old food, a little more every few days, as the vet recommended. He eventually accepted it, but only after I hid his favorite treats in a drawer, which he has now figured out too.

His scratching is much better, and he sleeps through the night again. He still glares at me over breakfast, though. I think that is his way of saying thank you.
