Bua Checked Into a Pet-Friendly Hotel and Ruled the Lobby
Bua is a four-and-a-half-year-old Poodle with opinions about everything, so when we booked a pet-friendly room near Hua Hin for a long weekend, she was already acting like the owner of the place before we got out of the car. I had checked the policy carefully: small dogs under a certain weight, a pet mat by the bed, no pets on the restaurant terrace. Bua was over the weight limit, technically, but we had a quiet chat at reception and the staff were lovely about it.
The lobby was the first thing she conquered. She walked the whole length of the marble floor with her tail held high, greeting everyone, and accepted two chicken treats from a waiter who was clearly outnumbered. The room came with a little dog bed that she ignored completely, preferring the big sofa instead.
By Sunday she had a favourite spot under the pool umbrellas and a small fan club of other guests. Honestly, the holiday was for her more than for us. I think she is already planning the next trip.

Pet-friendly hotels are such a gamble when you have a dog with big opinions. It sounds like Bua made the trip work for everyone anyway.

Tip: ask about the pet policy in writing before you book, the rules can differ from what the website says.

Which pet-friendly hotel was it, and did they charge a fee for Bua?

Pack a spare towel for her paws, it saves the room floor a lot of trouble.
