Sushi's Twenty Scary Minutes on Patong Beach

Sushi is a four-year-old Labrador with a huge love for swimming, so I thought a quiet walk along Patong Beach in the early evening would be perfectly safe. I was wrong for about twenty minutes.

A group of kids started playing with a beach ball, and Sushi ran after it straight into the crowd near the sunbeds. I turned around and he was gone. My heart dropped.

I ran down the sand calling his name, and a lifeguard on his tower waved his arms and pointed toward a food stall. Sushi was sitting proudly beside a vendor, getting a sausage and wagging as if he had planned it all along.

I hugged him so tightly. Next time he gets a leash on the beach, no exceptions!
