Raising Kids and a Scottish Fold Under One Roof
Mochi came to us when our two kids were still in primary school, and for years he was their unofficial babysitter. Now the kids are teenagers and the relationship has become complicated. My honest view is that Scottish Folds are gentle, but he has limits, and the kids sometimes forget them.
The rules we settled on are simple. No carrying him around like a toy, no waking him from his sunny spot by the window, and the kids take turns feeding him, which teaches responsibility. Our older son now cleans the litter box every Sunday without complaint, mostly because Mochi will not forgive him otherwise.
Mochi is seven and a half and a little slower on the stairs, so we added a small ramp to the sofa. The vet checks his joints every year, which is standard for his breed. Patience works both ways in this house.
