Learning to Swim, Slowly, Next to My Rabbit

BMBrittany Moore2 October 2026·1 min read

I moved to On Nut last year and finally joined the condo pool, something I'd avoided my whole life. Splashing around in the shallow end, I kept thinking about Oreo, my three-year-old Holland Lop, who will never come near water. Rabbits aren't built for swimming, and I would never ask her to try.

Still, she watches from her blanket by the window every evening, ears up, as if she's waiting for my report. Last week I finally floated for ten seconds. I came home and told her all about it. She just twitched her nose and went back to her carrot. Honest feedback, I think.
