Keeping Kuma Cool on Hot Sukhumvit Days
Kuma is four months old now, a tiny Poodle with more energy than sense. The hot season has been brutal in Sukhumvit, so I have had to rethink our walks. We go out at six in the morning now, when the pavement is still cool enough to hold a hand on.
Before any walk I test the ground with the back of my hand for a full ten seconds. If I can't keep it there, his paws won't like it either. I also carry a small bottle of water and a folding bowl, and we take breaks in the shade under the BTS stairs.
At home, a cool damp towel and a fan on low help him rest. Keep an eye on those little paws too, especially between the toes, because hot asphalt can burn them. Ours are fine, but I check every evening.

Six a.m. walks in Sukhumvit sound like the only sane option right now.
