Introducing a new sugar glider to Choco
Choco is an eight-year-old female sugar glider, and she has had her cage to herself since she was a baby. When I brought home a young male to keep her company, I knew the first week would matter most.
I set up two separate cages side by side in the same room, so they could smell and hear each other without touching. I rotated a small fleece pouch between the cages each day so their scents mixed. I also made sure each had its own nest box and food dish.
After about ten days, I let them spend short supervised time on a towel in my lap. Choco was cautious at first, then groomed him. He is still learning the routine, but they now sleep in the same pouch.

Did Choco get used to the new cage quickly, or did it take the full week?

How did you handle the cleaning schedule for two cages? I'm thinking about getting a second glider, and I'm not sure one room can handle both without it getting messy. Did Choco seem stressed by the new cage smell at first? Thanks for sharing the details.
