Dum Conquers a Waterfall Trail in Khao Yai

Dum is a poodle, which means she was born with a fancy haircut and zero interest in mud. So when I suggested a waterfall hike in Khao Yai, I expected her to sit in the car. Instead she jumped out the moment the door opened and sprinted up the first slope like she had been training all year.

The trail was muddy and slippery in places. Dum picked her way across the rocks with great dignity, then decided the pool at the bottom was her personal spa. She splashed in, shook water all over me, and then rolled in a patch of dry leaves until she looked like a small furry mop. My hiking shoes were ruined. Dum was thrilled.

Next time I will bring a towel for both of us, and maybe she can pick the route. She clearly knows the best places.
