A Practical Checklist for Flying with Noodle
Noodle is a three-year-old Samoyed, and we flew with him from Phuket to Bangkok last month. Nobody warned me how much paperwork a fluffy white dog needs, so here is what I wish I had known.
Start early. Check the airline's pet policy first, because each one has its own weight limits for cabin and cargo, and the carrier must fit under the seat in front. Book the health certificate with your vet within the window the airline requires, and keep the original documents in a folder you can reach quickly.
Pack a small bag for him: a water bowl that clips to the carrier, a few treats, a towel, and a plastic bag for accidents. Freeze a water bottle the night before so it stays cool. Avoid feeding a big meal within a few hours of departure.
On the day, arrive at the check-in counter with time to spare. Noodle was calm, mainly because he slept most of the flight.

Thanks for writing this up. I'm flying with my dog next month and had no idea a fluffy white dog needed that much paperwork. The start-early tip is the one I'm going to follow first.
