A Hedgehog Vet Who Went the Extra Mile

Bua is our five-and-a-half-year-old hedgehog, and she is not an easy patient. When she curled into a tight ball on the exam table at the exotic animal clinic near our place in Chatuchak, the vet just laughed and said she had seen worse.
What impressed me was how much time she spent with Bua. She checked every spine, explained each step in simple words, and even gave me a small sheet about what to watch for at home. I left feeling like I had actually learned something.
Bua is still suspicious of the whole world, but she now unrolls for her favourite mealworms without huffing at me. Thanks to that vet for being so patient with a little prickly lady.

What a lovely story. Bua is lucky to have people who take the time to understand her. A vet who laughs and says she has seen worse is exactly the kind you want, so I hope she keeps her spirit and stays happy.

Hedgehogs can be so stubborn when they curl up at the vet, so it is no surprise Bua gave everyone a hard time. It is really reassuring that the vet stayed calm and did not rush her. I hope the rest of her checkups go as smoothly as that first one.
