Rainy Season in Hat Yai: Lek and the Flooded Soi
Every October the water rises in our street. Our Thai Ridgeback has strong opinions about puddles, and I have a checklist for flood days.

Lek means small, which is funny because he is a lean, silver-fawn Thai Ridgeback with the famous ridge on his back. He is from a breeder near Hat Yai and moves like a deer. Very smart, a little aloof, he waits at the gate for my scooter every afternoon. In the rainy season he refuses to step in puddles. He loves running on the field behind the mosque.
